SHG Women get training in Baking
A 13-day training programme organised to enhance the skill of women members of self-help groups under Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) concluded in Tuticorin on 6th October.
Thirty women from six SHGs received hands-on training in the preparation of bakery products at the Food Processing Centre operated by the V.O. Chidambaram Educational Trust. They learnt making of different types of biscuits, jams, juices, puffs and cakes.
R. Bharat Kumar, Assistant General Manager of NABARD, said that the MEDP was aimed at augmenting the skills and entrepreneurial qualities of members of ‘matured SHGs’ (those groups which were in existence for more than three years) and thereby enhance their income generation capabilities.
“The objective was achieved through short duration, location- specific training and capacity building programmes,” he added.
