Foreign students donate books to St.Lasalle School in Tuticorin City
Three students from Raffles Institution, a school in Singapore, turned good Samaritans for St. Lasalle Higher Secondary School in Tuticorin City.
M. Jerald, J. Jonathan and D. Lizheng handed over 1,500 books to the library at the local school during the first phase of the ‘window to outside world’ project mooted by them, on Friday (7th Sept.'07).
They plan to donate a total of 10,000 books under different stages. The trio started collecting books for the local school here when they heard that the library of the school was in need of funds to expand the library. The school library had only 3,000 books in its kitty prior to the donation.
The team members collected the books with the help of their friends, companies and non-governmental organisations back in their native land. They said that three major Singapore-based companies sponsored the procurement of books.
