Final photo electoral rolls released in Tuticorin

The Collector, R Palaniyandi, released the ‘final photo electoral rolls-2007’ for six of the seven Assembly constituencies in the Tuticorin district, at a function held at the office of Revenue Divisional Officer in Tuticorin on 18th September.

The rolls were published after making inclusions in the draft photo electoral rolls published in the district on May 25.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Palaniyandi said that the photo electoral rolls for Kovilpatti constituency would be published on September 20, after verification of a few more data. He said that according to final photo electoral rolls, there were 1,24,804 electors in Vilathikulam, 1,11,656 in Ottapidaram, 1,16,205 in Sattankulam, 1,36,913 in Tiruchendur, 1,12,300 in Srivaikundam, and 1,96,859 in Tuticorin Assembly segments.

“The final rolls showed an increase in the number of electors in all the six constituencies vis-À-vis the voters figured in the draft photo electoral rolls,” he said.

Assembly segment-wise, number of electors increased by 2.05 percent in Vilathikulam, 1.9 percent in Ottapidaram, one percent in Sattankulam, 1.8 percent in Tiruchendur, 1.58 percent in Srivaikundam and 3.05 percent in Tuticorin.

Dr. Palaniyandi said that the final photo rolls would be available at Collectorate, offices of Revenue Divisional Officers, municipal offices, taluk offices and polling stations for verification of electors.

The District Revenue Officer, P Anbarasu, the RDO (Tuticorin sub-division), P Kalaimani, the Tahsildar (Tuticorin taluk), K. Velusamy and the Tahsildar (elections), N B Nagarajan, were present.
