Minister inspects site for boat club in Tuticorin

Minister for Animal Husbandry P. Geetha Jeevan on Saturday inspected the site proposed for the establishment of a boat club by the municipal administration at Roche Park on Beach Road in tuticorin City.

Ms. Jeevan said that the establishment of the boat club and development of the park would be carried out on a total estimated outlay of Rs.95 lakh.

“The municipal administration and the Department of Tourism will bear the project cost equally,” she added.

The proposed boat club will have four boats to take the tourists for pleasure rides along a two km stretch of inshore waters.

As regards the development of the park, sources said that good quality grass would be grown to beautify the landscape.

Later, Ms. Jeevan also visited site identified for the establishment of a road at Kurinji Nagar on an outlay of Rs.15 lakh.

Municipal Commissioner R. Lakhsmi, Municipal Chairperson R. Kasturi Thangam, and Municipal Engineer S.A. Rajagopal were present during the inspection.
